Mark was a friend and fellow revolutionary back in the day. He a communist me a Trotsykist. We had great sparring but we both knew how to party - and indeed fight the cause. All this against a back drop of great jumble sales, the miners strike fundraising, The Bell and Bronski Beat and some awesomely bad haircuts. And a heath service that knew so little about AIDs. I still remember nursing staff making us leave his dinner plates outside his room. Yes a communist and gay rights activist.
I was at college with him in Portrush, and until today I had no idea about what he went on to do. He did make a very brief movie appearance himself as an extra in Hazel O'Connor's 1980 film 'Breaking Glass'. He lived near us in London at the time. I'm proud to have know him.
We were so inspired by the film Pride at the Bectu conference, that we thought we'd have a cake sale in Mark's honour at work on the day of the Pride march. What a campaigner -we are in awe! With love and solidarity all the folk at Red Bee.
